What is your Name?
Marguerite Ferdinand
How long have you been involved in the program?
31 years
What interested you in the program?
We loved how self sufficient the people wanted to be and the Msgr. at the time, Msgr. Esquivel, really encouraged and supported us.
What do you love about the people of Kenya?
They are very friendly and it was one of the few places in the world who like Americans. They made us feel very welcome.
What advice or words do you have for the younger generation to spark interest in them to help others less fortunate?
It is something we should do as Christians. Our whole religion is based on love. It also makes the world a better place.
When your not helping others what do you do for fun?
Read, puzzles, enjoy cards with friends and enjoy time with family. I have 8 kids, one foster son, 20 grandchildren, and 19 great grandchildren.
What other programs are you involved in?
A widows group that some friends and I started, choose a charity each month and donate money to them such as help foster kids, buy school supplies or Christmas gifts. Valentin's day we fill gift bags with candy, socks and underwear for St. Vincent De Paul. Its different every month.
Anything else you would like people to know about you or would like to say?
The main goal of our program is to find children in Kenya a sponsor to help them through school. If anyone is interested in sponsoring please contact us.
